Spiritual food for thought

Girlfriends have always “found spiritual strength in each other’s love and compassion. … As they suffered trials of illness and death, they prayed in faith for each other and comforted each other. ‘The love of God flowed from heart to heart,’ wrote Helen Mar Whitney.
In my church, all the ladies receive the opportunity to serve, love and visit 2 other women in the ward (congregation)... we actually call it VISITING TEACHING.  Basically, we watch out, help and friendship these ladies.  Everyone has someone to love 'em and watch out for them.  If a meal or a ride to pick up a repaired car is needed... we can call on each other.  It is also delightful to receive a spiritual message, friendly hello and sweet hug at least once a month.   We report and share our findings each month to the presidency make sure everyone is getting seen.

As I was creating a goodie for this month... I thought... why not post these for my lady friends in blogville.  We don't all need to be member of the same church to serve and show kindness to another lady at work, in the neighborhood or next door.  We could all use a little love and appreciation.   So... if you can think of a 'sister' that could use a simple pick me up and hug... print off the tag... grab something 'pear'ish and spread a little love.
Elaine L. Jack, the 12th Relief Society general president, said:
“In visiting teaching we reach out to each other. Hands often speak as voices can’t. A warm embrace conveys volumes. A laugh together unites us. A moment of sharing refreshes our souls. We cannot always lift the burden of one who is troubled, but we can lift her so she can bear it well.”
