Halloween with the Old Lady

I find it funny that I enjoy a spooky, stinky (pumpkin math ;), orange holiday so much.
I do though... and the Little Old Lady day at school just added to the fun!!

Columbus Day/Week & Freebie

We have a short 3 day week in Utah this week (Wahoo!!!)
I guess my plans are complete.
I pulled out this Columbus unit for a bit of language arts, math, social students, reading and fun... along with a few terrific books and great video.
Our math subject is EVEN and ODD ... so basically...
it's going to be a great/easy week at school.
One thing I wished I would have done was check out any new Columbus books..
I  never made it over to Barnes and Noble this weekend.
Are there any new MUST haves?

One of my kids favorite activities to do in their free time is patterned art.
They are getting pretty good at it.  If you are interested, click here.

Halloween Math Story Problems

I updated a Halloween word problem file that I created a couple of years ago. The original file complimented my DOUBLES unit during Halloween.  Now it contains another set of cards for addition, subtraction and 3 addends.  If you were able to purchases the mini Halloween erasers found in Target's dollar spot... pull them out because they'll make great manipulatives.  If you missed the purchase, no worries... I've included some printables, too!!

"Teacher, I'm Done!" Task Cards for Fall

We constantly prepare activities and assignments for every 15 minutes of each school day. However, we always have the "Teacher, I'm Done!" friend.
Well, I'm trying something new this year... I'll post my pictures soon.
But it's easy...
it consists of a student booklet
and 12 sets of language arts and math task cards and
 many minutes of quality review.
 Here's a sneak peek...

Math Freebies

I have a father this year volunteering to help my students with their math facts.
I want to be sure each of the kids get a chance to get out with him (not just the low friends)... so I created a couple sets of flashcards for him.
I use PIG MATH for basic math fact study.
One of the reasons I love it so much is that it allows the kids to move at their own pace.
I have some on +2, some on -3 and many in between.
PIG Math makes it possible and so simple.
Here is Mr. W's basket... flashcards, timer and PIG Math individual efforts.
I posted a flashcard FREEBIE a bit ago.  If you are in need of some simple cards, please feel free to download them here.
I created this 'empty' scorebook for PIG MATH here also.

F.Y.I.  This year I am using XtraMath for the first time.
It is a free online math site to help kiddos practice their basic math facts.
Each student has an account to practice at home and each day they get the opportunity to practice once at school, too.  It is very simple... you might want to check it out!
