I received an email today that I was nominated for the Burt Brothers Teacher of the Year Award. Cool huh? I'm sure the nomination was for ALL the fabulous people that surround and support Lory Evans. I am so blessed with family, friends and a team that is the most AMAZING group of ladies. We always say that when you get one of us in 2nd grade at Creekside... you get all 5 of us ;) We have been teaching together for 15 years so needlessness to say we know more about each other than our husbands would like :) This award is $1,000. $750. and $500... That amount to teachers is tremendous... like more than our entire 2nd grade supply budget for the the YEAR!! Think of what we could buy these little friends!! Wahoo!!! Please log in below ... it only takes 2 minutes. Thanks so much for your support and help! KSL link
Last year my own kiddos had such a great time creating this bucket for their teachers... This weekend we were doing our grocery shopping and my son asked if he could pick out the candy for his teacher bucket this year... I guess it did make an impression (he's an 11 year old boy ;)
There are links to the other gifts we gave last year... just click the sidebar under Teacher Appreciation Gifts. I'm so grateful there are talented ladies out there!!
This week I have been reading the kiddos Save the Earth from the Ready Freddy series. It is a darling book with great ideas for ways kids can participate in Earth Day. We made posters of the 10 challenges the kids have to do in order to become a member of the GREEN TEAM. My little ones wanted to the same challenge... so ... when they complete their assignment (at the end of the week) and return their page... I'll add their name to the center of our board. Posters
Fraction sets are always tough for kiddos to work through, so I give mine plenty of opportunity to practice. Today we mixed it up with Earth Day and sunflower seeds. The kids are to determine how many students will be sharing the seeds.... how many seeds each student will receive and what fraction of the set that is. If you are looking for a fraction activity I posted it on TpT for free!! Happy Tuesday!
So this week... we've been working on the 'ight' family. Each day we read story, read through the words and discuss their meanings, complete a page from my TpT file... well... we have a new addition to the library... We are all familiar with Goodnight Moon... have you purchased yourself a copy of Goodnight IPad... it is hysterical!!! A definate must have for teachers and students of this generation!!!
Earth Day, Hooray is packed full of activities for the whole week of Earth Day! It includes posters, literature lists, gameboard, classroom banner, 14 math and language stations, student booklet to compliment each station, craftivity and poetry activity and a double sided tri-fold for students.
If time doesn't slow down ... the end of the year is going to be here before we know it!!
The banner is finished and posted... ... and I've loaded a math freebie for your patience...
