Groundhog Day

Is it necessary... probably not... however... to a little 7 year old... furry animals on the news making predictions is a huge thing... so... I've learned to embrace it and do something constructive with it ;) I've collected a basket of books and added the idea of Groundhog Day to important concepts that we need to review. They're happy... I'm happy... it's a happy day at school. If your interested in joying in on the fun... I've place my Groundhog Day unit on sale... it has 5 math and 5 language arts activities.

New Word Families

My class has worked on a word family each week of school this year and we've really enjoyed the 20 or so minutes each day reading a fun book (with a -ock / -ine / -ake word in the title) and completing the word family activity. Yesterday the kiddos were trying to guess what word family would be up on the board for next week... didn't want to disappoint so I had to make a few more units...

Winter Game Board FREEBIES

While creating my Common Core Snow Much Fun Centers I made a silly mistake during the creative stage.... Each of my stations has a math fact game board for the students to work on after they complete the station requirements (to serve as a buffer and help those kiddos memorize their math facts ;)... like I said ... I got into the creative part of creating and didn't realize the games that I was creating for 3 stations were NOT math fact games BUT games dealing with the station concept... OOPS! They were pretty good game boards, just not was I was supposed to be doing... so I'd love to share them with anyone needing a few free winter game boards...

Synonyms, Antonyms, Oh My!

I love this time of year... the kiddos are familiar with the routine and schedule... they know they expectations... love it... it's also a great time to review some of those earlier language units. I pulled these activities out this week and the kids have loved them (so have the substitutes... I had a horrible head cold).
